Hello,

I can easily find the info on obtaining a 1 year work visa, but after that is there an option to renew my visa or apply for residency if I want to stay long term?

I am a veterinarian and can easily get a job there.

Thanks.

Hi

It appears as though vets are not on this list, which is a bit surprising.

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/critical-skills-list.pdf (broken link)

So your options would be to find to find employer to sponsor when your hear (this may not be too difficult), marry an australian or enroll in an australian university.

You can get a second WHV if you do 3 months "specified work at a remote location" which normally consists spending 3 months laboring or picking fruit on a farm somewhere.

Daveydoe,
I am a registered vet, although I work in government and not practice anymore.
Each state has it's own board, I am in NSW:
www.vpb.nsw.gov.au
Also, employment agencies such as Kookaburra are very helpful:
www.kookaburravets.com
Vetlink is another one.
Please contact me by PM if you want any advice.
