Hi,

I need to know the comparison between growth rate and stability in the IT sector of Australia and New Zealand, specifically in the Asp.Net and C# Development. If it is worth to opt for applying PR in any of these country seeing the IT Sector position. I have 4+ years of experience in .Net technology.

Your views will be highly appreciated.

A very happy new year to all.

Thanks & Regards,
R Grover

I would say that there isn't really a solid foundation of the I.T sector in Australia, sure almost every business nowadays has their I.T dep, but that's as far as it goes.. In Australia..

I would say California is having an I.T boom at the moment..

The contract IT sector is worth $20bln/year in Australia. Granted the US would be significantly bigger but it does have a solid foundation here.

Sorry OP, can't help with the specifics of your question.

You cannot just compare numbers with different countries.. Australia is very inflated.. And the numbers will always be higher.. Have you heard of PPP?

Why do you say California is having an IT boom? Curious.

California is the global centre of the IT industry, the high demand and quality of personale means the IT wages are higher there than just about any where else. Internet companies are still booming in the valley.

PPP is a very flawed measurement, assembling and comparing an equal basket of goods is incredibly difficult to do accurately, and the result can vary wildly depending on what is in the basket.

Yes I have, so what? Does it make my statement that Australia's IT sector has a solid foundation incorrect?

I was curious as to why they say California is booming if they knew something I didn't. My Mom lived in Silicon Valley and I still have family there (in IT) and they don't think its booming. Basically Silicon Vally is it, IT in other parts of California isn't as dominant. Some Internet firms in San Francisco. Some big firms in East Bay but not much else.

Silicon Valley's unemployment rate is 9.5. Not really booming:
Unemployment Rate: San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area, California; Percent; NSA

Unemployment (10/2011) in San Francisco is 9.4%:
