Some of my biggest impressions about Australia involve sea stingers, deadly snakes, salties, and sharks.

Here in the American northeast, these types of threats are non-existent. You can walk anywhere and jump into any body of water without a concern.

The only thing that's keeping America from moving forward are the Sothern states....If Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama weren't in this country I can say America would have away less fat people, better quality of life and less poverty.

Australia is a beautiful country. My family moved here from Ireland in the 60s. I live in Perth and the weather is amazing. Even in winter the weather is mild by world standards. The Australian people are some of the most tolerant and accepting people you could ever wish to meet.

Perth is a great place to raise a family. I have to admit it is not the most exciting place in the world but I like peace and quiet so that just suits me fine. If you are looking for great places to eat and enjoy a drink there are plenty of places that offer that. Western Australia has some of the best beaches in the world and such a diverse scenery and weather. I can understand why Australia has been picked as the best place to live. It is a wonderful country.

Australia has a higher percentage of fat people than Americans today.

Plus a large percentage of British and Irish people that immigrate here eventually decide to decide to leave.

I feel the only places really worth living in Australia if you are under 30 are Sydney and Melbourne as they are the only international cities in this country.

Yet despite that I believe that Australia is the best country to live.

Having spent 6 months in Australia several years ago, I definitely understand how Australia could be seen as one of the top places to live in the world.

Indeed. Record numbers of Brits are leaving Australia and are choosing to return home. Here is a BBC article covering this particular subject: BBC News - Why are so many Britons leaving Australia?

Also, here is an 'article' with a list of people who left Australia, and their reasons for doing so: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-15970341

Quite frankly there is absolutely zilch in Australia that is even remotely appealing to me. Off the top of my head, I cannot name one single thing that I would actually enjoy about living there. I don't think I would ever enjoy living outside the 'Old World'. Even old-world style cities in the New World feel nothing like cities in the Old World. But I would choose to live in New England over New South Wales. Sydney and Melbourne look like interesting cities, but much of the rest of the country is very unappealing to me personally, and I have little interest to even explore it. Maybe one day for the natural beauty, but certainly not from a cultural or urban experience perspective.

Economic reasons are a big draw, but the 'good' weather will also influence people's decisions. No doubt if someone got offered the same job for the same wage in Australia or Canada, they would pick Australia, because Canada is 'far too cold'. Plus, it depends on what particular sector you're working in. The mean income in Australia and the UK is not too different - but there are areas in Australia where income is far ahead of their UK equivalent, but the same is true for the UK. Another factor is house size - houses are way larger in Australia than the UK on average, and not as close together, so you may get more bang for your buck, but Australia is still ludicrously expensive, more so in terms of real estate, more than the UK that's for sure, especially outside of London.

Anyway, even if it's not for me personally, I realise that sunshine, for most people, is a massive morale booster, and this alone is a big draw for Brits, who are used to cooler, much cloudier conditions. But as I've made clear, it just isn't for me, I am not so interested in the 'perks' of Australia (space, climate, 'relaxed' lifestyle) and if I leave the UK, it will be to Scandinavia or Germany most likely, however, for the time being, I am perfectly content in the UK - I have a stable job with a decent income, and I live in a safe, quiet and well-off area with lots of history and great access to amenities. I have absolutely no reason to leave. Everything I need, for now, is right here.

I know that feeling, I ticked the box on the departure card marked "Australian Resident leaving Pernamently" - Twice.

Its funny you say that, if it was just liberals and democrats America would be like all of new England, northwest states and some Midwestern states, democrats control states with high quality of life, great education, large economies, healthy people and less poverty!
