Australia is a beautiful country. My family moved here from Ireland in the 60s. I live in Perth and the weather is amazing. Even in winter the weather is mild by world standards. The Australian people are some of the most tolerant and accepting people you could ever wish to meet.
Perth is a great place to raise a family. I have to admit it is not the most exciting place in the world but I like peace and quiet so that just suits me fine. If you are looking for great places to eat and enjoy a drink there are plenty of places that offer that. Western Australia has some of the best beaches in the world and such a diverse scenery and weather. I can understand why Australia has been picked as the best place to live. It is a wonderful country.
Australia is the last accepting place on this earth in terms of race of developed countries.
The only thing that's keeping America from moving forward are the Sothern states....If Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama weren't in this country I can say America would have away less fat people, better quality of life and less poverty.
Fat people all over the US...just a lot less in cities like LA, NY, Boston. Texas is actually the biggest state both in how heavy the people are and size (well apart from Alaska) lol.
I never heard of Australia having more fat people than Americans but okay...
I'm not sure if it's still the case, but I think I heard that we had more obese or overweight people than the US. Either way, we're up there in the top 5. Most Australians do not look like those trimmed tanned beach bods you see on tourist ads.
It's usually not a good idea to quote surveys like these on city data, all you will get is a whole heap of people saying how stupid and incorrect the whole thing is, just saying sorry.
Some of my biggest impressions about Australia involve sea stingers, deadly snakes, salties, and sharks.
Here in the American northeast, these types of threats are non-existent. You can walk anywhere and jump into any body of water without a concern.
Having lived there for 15 years, I can vouch for the fact that this is over-exaggerated, I've never come across anything deadly... the worst I've seen was the common house spider (in an old house, surprise surprise!)

Australia is one of the most diverse nations in the world. People from every nation imaginable live here. Indians and Chinese are now the top source countries of people coming to Australia but many different nationalities come here to live.
I don't know where people get the idea that Australia is racist. Australians are on a whole very accepting of different nationalities. Why do so many want to come here otherwise?
Plus a large percentage of British and Irish people that immigrate here eventually decide to decide to leave.
The most common reason being "they miss friends and family", which is understandable. It's not like they are leaving because living quality is worse in Australia.
Sydney and Melbourne look like interesting cities, but much of the rest of the country is very unappealing to me personally, and I have little interest to even explore it. Maybe one day for the natural beauty, but certainly not from a cultural or urban experience perspective.
Even the people who left Australia ended up missing it...

After migrating to Australia in 1995, I moved my family back to the UK 18 months ago so my kids could know their grandparents. Now I feel obliged to stay, but am incredibly homesick for Queensland. Life was simple there. Here, it is harder and very consumption-oriented while people are more tense and noticeably less optimistic. There is also a wider social divide here. It's nice to see old friends and extended family but the sacrifices overall are not worth it. I wish I had the money to take my parents back to Australia. As it is, I am thankful that my Aussie-born kids will be able to return and that I will be able to retire there.
