One win in three years. Simply awful. Is he burnt out? Does he care about winning anymore? 10th on a road course. Something's wrong. I know it's hard to pass on a RC, but damn.

I think it's a couple of things. Being married with kids maybe and his crew chief? No matter what it is, he's not hitting on much! It's hard being a Gordo fan these days. *sigh*

With the exception not caring about winning I think it's a combo of all the above. I don't think he & Latarte have the same chemistry he had w/Loomis & Everham and I feel perhaps the wife & kids have shifted his focus to some extent. Add a more competitive field to the mix as well.

Time marches on...racing venues in general (some forms more than others) are a young mans sport.

Isn't he still second in the points standing? Of course a win prior to the Chase would help a lot since the points are reset.

Or a couple wins after the Chase starts will make him a 5-time champion.

The competition is pretty darn good.

Evidence of that is in how many laps it takes the " big names" to actually be able to pass some of the " less famous" drivers when those " less famous" are going to go a lap down.

He's certainly had his opportunities this year but couldn't close the deal. I was suprised when Kyle outwheeled him at Richmond this year.

Two things
1. He got JJ in the 48
2. Green-White -Checker. I can't find any stats on it but it seems he used to be the king of winning under a yellow.

JG suffers from the same problem that ended the careers of, DW, Rusty, Dale Jarrett, Bill Elliot and now Mark Martin. Auto racing especially Nascar Sprint Cup is now a young mans game.
