You forgot sirens..that work. A friend had an old ambulance and turned on the siren at a local teen hangout and quickly got arrested....lol.

Speaking from experience, there are few things more annoying that trying to get somewhere in a cop car when not running code (even then it's a giant PITA). Everyone drops down to WAY below the speed limit and literally starts driving like a bunch of paranoid elderly people.

It's actually not very fun at all to drive a cop car. (unless you are chasing someone, but that's a different story .)

I am going to generalize but I think that anyone who does their best to make their car look like a cop car, without actually being a cop, is just a sadistic jerk.

It really depends on your location. In Arizona, for example, "wigwags" are legal (alternating flashing headlights). In most states, the spotlights are legal (they're an "auxiliary light"). While you can't have the red and blue lights, flashing ambers are allowed. They also don't care about the black / white paint scheme.

While not a Caprice / Crown Vic, I've got my own car that I'm turning into a police "clone". I've got a black, 1992 Mazda Miata for my little track / drift car. I'll be getting a white hardtop and white doors, throw on some wigwags, and some decals that say "to protect and swerve".

It depends what kind of cop car. I don't think the local constabulary would have a problem with these.

I agree, they are interesting cars, but do not make a copy car out of it if you wish to drive it.
The Copy cars, or restored Squd Cars should be used as Show Cars only.
Here is FLorida, the paint schemes of FHP and the old FMP is protected by statute.

In some places you can do a complete restoration but the "leo things" cant be functional on the road. Its best to use outdated cars that havent been used. I thought about making a interceptor parady- like barricade from transformers. But not using red and blue lights. Besides, have you seen the prices for ligjt bars, especially led ones?

This was a 3-year old thread....that said, I would never try to make a car look like a cop car. I had an old Dodge Diplomat that looked exactly like what the police drove at the time (unmarked), at work my friends called it the "Narc car"....and I have never, ever been pulled over by the police as much as I was in that car. Cops apparently don't like it when you drive a car that looks like theirs.
