My guess is Chrysler, primarily because they had crap to offer to "cash-for-clunkers" buyers last August and therefore their sales weren't artificially inflated.

I second that. According to Autoblog Chrysler and Jaguar-Land Rover were the only ones on the up and up this August.
however GMC, Buick, and Cadillac brands saw increase in sales as well, but the Chevy brand was down 20,000 units totalling 131,000 units. That difference is the total number of units moved for Cadillac, so that shows you how hard hitting these extra brands really are.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee helped too. I seriously have not seen a single negative review for it.
well the new commercials are pure badassery. looks like chrysler is getting their act together.
You must be kidding.
The new GC is very promising. But new commercials don't have anything to do with the quality of the vehicles. The Dodge lineup is still full of crap. Only the Challenger and Viper are notable. Chrysler's lineup is exactly the same as before. Jeep has ONE new vehicle.
The August sales data only proves that last August was horrible.

You're forgetting the Ram. I haven't heard any negative reviews about it either.
I hope that Chrysler keeps scoring homeruns with Fiat, because that will prove that Daimler were the real ****-ups, just like Lee Iacocca said they were.
By the way, stay tuned for the 2011 Charger.
