I'm going to jerry rig a big old camcorder under my hood next time I take my car in. Make it real noticeable, so they think i'm recording them and I can rest assure that the work is being done. Doh! Maybe put 3 of them duct taped in various spots. And deny everything when asked about it.
Note to self...continue taking the mustang to dealerships for work. At least if a technician at a Ford dealership tries to screw with me/us, I know how to get in touch with Ford's people.
This is why we searched to find a good, honest, LOCAL auto repair shop to serve all our cars needs. Over time, you build a relationship with them, they know that you recommended them once they have gained your trust, and, ufortunately, they know that there are folks getting taken advantage of by businesses like these that will be in search of a "home grown" mechanic who bread and butter depends on building their business. We have used Potranco Automotive since 1994 and they really look out for their customers. Get to p/u my car today and know that it will have been done right. Hate paying for repairs (who doesn't?) but like knowing that they were done, done right, and at a fair price.
Paka, agree with you 200%!!! We have a local garage that does ALL our automotive work. They are honest, competent, and a true joy to deal with! The boss hires, trains and motivates good mechanics. We have in them, one of the best business relationships anyone could have!
I'm willing to bet it happens at dealerships too. A friend worked for a Ford dealership...let's just say a lot of shady things took place where he worked at.
The sad part is that there is a lot of good money to be made just servicing people and providing a business of need to them, any type of business. Why the rip-offs?
All corporate franchises not just Jeffy Lube should be shopping their own stores and seeing what is or isn’t happening at them!
It doesn't suprise me, my wife always had her car serviced at a fast lube place, I always checked her car afterwards and found they had charged her for a new airfilter and didn't relace it, she takes her new car to the dealer and they do a good job and it cost 1/2 the price of the fast lube for the synthetic oil.
The dealership wants $75 for an oil change on my VW. I called them and they said that was all it needed for the 15k mile service. I was about to take it to Jiffy Lube instead...now $75 is sounding better-
Okay, okay, it's stupid, but after reading this thread and all of the updated post, "Jiffy Lube" exposed, I keep picturing a guy with an overcoat spread open, and standing on the corner. It has to be a very sick brain to keep coming up with stuff like this.
