On my 2003 Nissan Altima I had revved the engine really high on a cold start and noticed a bit of blue smoke afterwards. I started the car a couple times later that day when I had errands to run and saw nothing
The car had a motor and pre cat replaced in May of 2009 due to a bad catalytic converter which was causing excessive oil consupmtion (and the blue exhaust to go with it) And I have heard horror stories about Altima owners who have had the cat and motor replaced only to have the issue arise again
Is it possible its going to happen to me again? Im worried now
And its a 2.5 Liter engine (the one who usually has this problem on 2002-2006 Altimas) The body has about 88,000 miles, the motor has close to 27,000

Revving a cold engine is the single worst thing an owner can do and will ensure that said owner has early engine failure. A cold engine has NO oil at start up to lube the parts and said owner is revving dry parts when they do that. Not smart or very bright.

When cold......start your car.....let it idle a bit....then SLOW & EASY drive away.
Ill agree it was stupid, not something I normally do
The car does get driven fairly hard out here in Las Vegas, a lot of hard braking as well. People here in Vegas are EXTREMELY trigger happy with the brake pedal along with a combination of REALLY LONG red lights and constant car accidents, and endless road constrcution clogging up traffic
Blue smoke when engine is cold and not warm is almost always bad valve seals. When the motor is warm, the seals expand, closing the gap where the oil is escaping from. Nothing to really be worried about, but revving the hell out of the engine when it's cold is not the greatest idea.
