Unfortunately, we're over-educated on the effects of smoking and under-educated on the effects of noise.
All noise changes the chemistry of the body. Just clap your hands, that alone can do it.
125 decibels of noise is the threshold of pain.
Boom cars: 145 decibels or more
Shotgun firing: 130 decibels
Rock concert: 110-140 decibels
Thunderclap: 120 decibels
Chain saw: 110 decibels
Symphony orchestra: 110 decibels
Snowmobiles: 105 decibels
Jet fly-over (1000 ft.): 103 decibels
Farm tractor: 98 decibels
Lawnmower: 85-90 decibels
Average city traffic: 80 decibels
Garbage disposal: 80 decibels
Normal conversation: 50-65 decibels.
Many would be shocked to learn, that in certain people, loud noise can even trigger heart attacks.
