Can a faulty gad-cap cause my car to have a difficult time to start sometimes.
I own a 2005 Pontiac grand Prix.( V6 3.8 ).I had noticed how my car had at times, a difficult time starting up right away when I turned the key. It started up but turned off again. The check engine light was on so I had it checked out at Auto zone. The code registered a leaking gas cap. I replaced it with a new one. Now, it seems like the car is starting up great, without any problems at all. Can this be the reason?

I was having a real hard time under stand what a gad cap was.
It probably is possible a bad gas cap would cause problems starting.
I am not an expert but I believe the way I understand modern gas caps they actually regulate a certain amount of air in the tank.
Too much air is like not having the cap on.
Too little air or plugged is not good either. Which causes the fuel pump to have a hard time pumping gas.

My keybord is not working right at times. D and s are right next to each other and sometimes when I push s, d comes up instead. ( I spilled coffee on it 3 months ago!

You will know if the CEL comes on again. Until then just drive it.

I was having starting problems with my GMC Savana, it started fine then for two or three times would stall when starting or sound terrible then stall. My first garage bill was $1100 full-service, leads, cap, sparks-plugs filters etc but the problem was still there so I tried a 2nd garage $500 bucks later ( sensors etc) still the same problem with not even a check light coming on.

Spent 20 bucks on a new gas cap and have been problem free for 3 days now.

Your starter-motor will not function correctly without a gad-capacitor in parallel with the
start-windings??????
