probably the same, minus the bump for the driveshaft

Similar chassis I believe, but the Passat had a 2 inch longer wheelbase.

The Jetta has nothing to do with the A4.

I had a 2000 A4 and it slots right between the Jetta and Passat of the same era in terms of size. Of the three, the Passat is the largest with the most interior room. The A4 would be marginally bigger than your '01 Jetta.
