Thought on PEAK motor oil??? (vehicles, fuel, versus, tires)

A local store has a sale on Peak motor oil where the final price after rebate comes out to basically a dollar/quart. Question is how is the quality of this stuff compared to standard brands. Keep in mind I do normal driving in average performance vehicles (97 nissan altima and 93 jeep cherokee).

Ir anyone is familiar with the API oil rating system feel free to tell me what I should be looking for in terms of grade.

I think with those cars you would be fine with pretty much anything on the market today. Just make sure you put the correct viscosity. The oils on the market have the grading system and I have not had any trouble with any brand whatsoever and usually buy the walmart supertech or anything else that is cheaper. The price on that oil is right, so I would stock up on it.

I'll second that. I've run several cars up over 200K miles using the cheapest oil I could find. I also typically run 5-6K between oil changes. My vehicles get 95% of their miles on the highway, though, and that does make a difference.

If you work out what you are paying per mile for lube oil, versus fuel and tires, you will see why I say cheap oil and cheap tires won't save you any significant money.

Being in Iowa and not having enthusiast cars, nor apparently being much of a driving enthusiast, you can probably get away with the cheap oil, and the cars may rust out before it makes any difference.
