$10k tops? The car will be 7+ years old with 100k miles.

1. 2003/2004 G35
2. 2000-2002 BMW 3/5 series

I'd go with the G35 but I'm biased as I own one.

They're cheap to buy but expensive to maintain. I just sold my 2004 330i. Hope you're budgeting $1000-1500 a year for maintenance.

How does that break down, as in, how often do you change oil etc to get to that price.

That figure is at least half budgeting for unscheduled maintenance. Scheduled maintenance is not too bad. Oil changes at 10-15k, check I and II inspections every 30-60k plus brakes and tires aren't cheap. Over 100k things like shocks, suspension bushings, and the cooling system will need to be replaced. As with any car I planned to keep past 100k I'd make sure to flush the fluids, change the spark plugs, fuel filter, belts etc if not already done.
