geico and all-state have roadside assistance programs that compete with AAA but are far cheaper. but heres something you should know.
be aware of CLUE.
CLUE is the data base that like your credit score holds all your insurance claim info. it holds both your home or renters insurance claims ,homeowners and auto insurance info.
.
whether its your fault or not its all logged and held against you if you shop for insurance.
when you have insurance company roadside assistance that info is logged in CLUE .
having lock out service or running out of gas portrays you as an irresponsible driver. having flats changed are looked at as claims.
while your own company may not raise you it has big effects when shopping around.
what is in your clue report will effect your rates .
you are entitled to 1 clue report free per year under law. you can get your free report here.
I wonder how much of an impact it has though. I've had to get roadside assistance twice in the last 11 years. Once for a dead battery, once for a flat. Both through my insurance company. I cannot imagine that has had enough of an impact on my report.
its hard to tell. i have very low rates after being with geico almost 40 years.
we had some claims not our fault for a stolen air bag and a dent while parked.
when i decided to check my rates by shopping around those 2 items on clue got me quotes that were way high .
im not sure how much the roadside assist impacts things but to be honest anything in your clue report isnt going to help you and can only be a negative..
The CLUE site can't verify my identity, and refused to tell me why. No matter how many times I fill it out, the information will always be exactly the same, so it is a waste of time.
\Maybe the good news is that if they can't verify my identity, an insurance company can't use them to get a negative report on me.
really? its a waste of time because you cant get in...
your the only one so far that has an issue. everyone i sent the link to got in. your answering one of the questions wrong.
i blew it the first time when it showed me addresses and the one it wanted me to pick was my ex wifes after we got divorced. i never lived there though.
by the way those questions come from the same pool that the credit bureaus ask you to answer. from and share the same data about your past addresses . if you cant get in to clue odds are you cant check your credit reports either if those same questions come up.
I did a google and all I found was Allstate Motor Club which was $48 bucks.. cheaper than AAA.
I might just call geico and add theirs to my policy/
i would stay away from any insurance company that reports to clue when you use roadside assistance. the extra couple of bucks for aaa may be worth it. geico confirmed they report every call.
