I too hope Ford's issues are a thing of the past given that I'm considering leasing a Lincoln MKC (i.e., a juiced up Ford Escape from what some declare).

Of the three Fords I mentioned, the Escort was the most reliable, until the engine grenaded itself. Too long a story for details.

The Ranger's glycol air heater sprung a leak; there were suspension problems and ignition switch issues.

The F-150? Ugh! Purchased a 2005 version off the showroom floor. Made 4 trips to the dealer within 11 months for the same exact problem: undersized warped rotors.

Hope the product has improved. I'm tepidly skeptical and curious.

Nissan Sentra in the late 80s. Have never even considered another Nissan since. Favorite cars were my 97 Volvo 850 and my 1970 Nova. Honorable mention to an Eagle Talon in the late 90s.

1 gen ford expedition. wish I was a mechanic and owned a shop. air suspension, ignition coils, electrical defects, heater core change, etc. when it rains it pours. i loved the truck, feel and style was good, felt like a king. after having issues on the firewall, with the starter, and $5.00 a gallon gas, i gave up!

I was at the dealer today and there is a recall on my C6 for the leaking gas tank so no charge to fix.

My parents gifted me a LR LR3 and i had it a bit when I first started driving. They put 150,000 miles on it without much issue, and wouldnt ya know I recieved it and it broke down on I90 with my horse in tow. Yup, I was fed up with it so i got rid of it. Many have bad luck with them it seems, but we really liked it, and id buy another one now lol. Really is something when you have a car that breaks down a lot but you still like it, dedication, er is that love?

We used to drive VW Rabbits. Great cars, but they had a problem with leaks around the windshield. And then the rain would come THROUGH the fuse box. I remember once parking at a motel in a rainstorm, the rear of the car was higher than the front. The water in the accelerator/brake area was inches deep.

Edge, not Escape.

Not knocking it, just saying.. The psychology of "It has to be the best of them all" works when buying cars, (Lincoln vs Ford badging) and if you like how it looks then it works for you.

Worst car *might* have been a 1989 Volkswagen Fox. I reluctantly say that, but my Jetta was better (1986.)

Fox: (mine was red. This was a small car, good for one)

Jetta:

If anyone knows a decent condition 1986 or 1987 Jetta Deluxe in Blue (WVW vin, not 3VW, Germany vs Mexico assembly,) let me know, i'm buying it.

I had a 1959 VW beetle had a 6 volt electrical system, had manifold heat boxes for the heat no blower motor back then, was a 4 speed manual transmission with manual drum brakes and a true McPherson front suspension. The gas tank was in the trunk witch was in the front, remember it was air cooled no radiator. Had no radio and rusted running boards. But it was fun to drive in the summer but winter was a different story you never warmed up and always scraping the inside windshield because the defrost was just a slot under the front window but not to much heat because the engine didn’t heat up that much in the winter. Remember the heater worked off the heat of the engine. And the wheels were bolted on with wheel studs so you had to use the top of your foot to help line up wheels to the stud holes. My brother got me this car in 1971 he was a foreign car mechanic.

Slap a 450 hp LT 1 in it and it could be fun.
