I am looking at a 2007 Silverado with 180000 miles (highway). It was my brothers who has passed. He took very good care of his truck so it's not a crap shoot on a used car lot.
My concern is what is the life expectancy of a truck - in general - and this one.
My current car is near end of life (for me 119000 miles Oldsmobile).
I get concerned about what repairs to expect at this stage of the truck.
is it 2WD or 4WD does it have a 4.3 V-6 or a LS based 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 Vortec V-8 because if it is well taken care of a Silverado 1500 can last a very long time in fact alot of 25-30 year old Ford and Chevy trucks are still on the Road and used as workhorses at Construction sites.

Any insight would be great.

The LS based motor and 4L80 trans and rearend in that truck will last a very long time. If it's been taken care of then drive train will last 250K without any major issues. The rest of the truck however is not so good. Look for rust around the frame and lower body. Once it starts it will eat the truck away in a year or so.
Wiring on the interior has also been an issue and often the accessories don't work. Make sure the power windows, mirrors and all the dash stuff still works. If it does you should be ok.

If you are not sure, have all the fluids changed and go DRIVE IT !
These Chevys and GMC easily go 300K and more.
