So I bought a 95 Roadmaster. The car is in great shape, but had blackwalls, and didn't look quite right. The tires only have a few thousand miles, so I didn't want to junk them. At a service appointment, turns out it has whitewalls installed on the inside. They were switched out. The dealer tried to clean them up, but they are a bit yellow. What can I do to make them white again, or just a bit whiter?

I use to use SOS pads. They did a good job of getting them white again. Maybe others have something better.

Use the SOS wet with bathroom cleanser like Comet or Ajax, the kind that shakes out of a can as a white powder. Leave it on for a while as a paste and it will bleach them white. Boy that brings back memories.

Yes, it does for me too. That's exactly how I cleaned my parents' whitewalls.

I will do a small test spot to see if this will work. I bought this car becuase I wanted it to bring back memories of the big RW, V-8 sedans. The car hit the mark. So getting the whitewalls white again comes with the territory!

If bleach white doesn't clean them up forget it. Wet the tire and spray plenty on and let it soak in a few minutes then scrump hard with a stiff brush. Rinse well and repeat.....

I use Westley's Bleach White. Our Silver Wraith used to have 8" white walls and that was the most efficient product to get them cleaned.
