I remember driving a worn out 73 c10 with a 6cyl and 3 on the tree doing ranch work when I was about 14 or so and having to keep a cut off broom handle to knock the linkage loose when it would jam between 2nd and 3rd gear..I hated that truck
1982 Pontiac Phoenix (Pontiac's version of the Chevy Citation). I started driving it on back roads when I was 13. That ole 'Iron Duke' four banger was a pretty tough little engine.
1981 Ford Durango which my great-uncle bought from someone. I took the keys and took the car. Needless to say once I returned he put me in a world of hurt.
I worked on a farm and learned to drive on their 1929 Model A Ford 4 banger with 3 on the floor. You started it by hand cranking the engine in front of the vehicle. It also had hand operated windshield wipers and mechanical brakes. Now that was real driving experience.
61 Ventura 2 door hardtop (aka Bubbletop ), next was a 64 Olds Delta 88, then a 70 Catalina, followed by a 61 Bubbletop Bonneville and a 66 421 tri-power Bonneville Convertible. The next 1 I got to drive that wasn't mine but later on was, a 69 Firebird.
1967 IH Scout...I was around 6 or 7 and my dad would put it in low range and 1st gear and I would crawl all over the place.
Haha!
The first vehicle I drove was a 1963 Scout (my dad's)! In a hayfield. lol
I must have been fourteen or fifteen and we were using it to pick up bales of hay that my aunt had had cut and baled.
At some point, my dad upgraded to a '68 Scout and that was the vehicle I drove after I got my driver's license in my junior year of high school. My best friend and I dubbed it "Sherman" (as in tank).
Very tossable and fun to drive. It had a strange female robot voice too. "Lights are on"
