I'm a bargain hunter. I tend to like the best quality used sedan I can find, but cheap. Eg. One time I bought a 2003 Buick Century "program" for only 11K, with 20,000 miles on it. It was only ine year old, and drove that 100K. Another one was a 3 yr old Merc. Grand Marquis. I paid $12,000, and it was from a private seller. It was mint, literally driven by grandma for only 3 years. But it was cheap, because sedans aren't popular. So I'm on the hunt, basically I want a good reliable car, but one with lots of depreciation, but only 3-5 years old. I'm first going to look at a Chev. Impala. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Chevy Malibu
Mitsubishi Galant
Hyundai Elantra

Lots of others that aren't Toyota, Honda, Subaru that can be had for a lot less coin and that are fairly reliable.

You did say 'sedan' so I'll keep it there. What you listed are, frankly, crapmobiles that I wouldn't be caught dead in, cars my dad drove when he was 65+. "Oh, how the mighty have fallen!" I cursed him, back then, but to no avail: the season had passed for my dad and sports cars. Fortunately, No. 1 son (that being me) refuses to drive junk.

Watched a rather famous YouTube car-scene guy today, who entered a road rally here in the CONUS (East Coast) with "the cheapest Lexus IS F in America." He found one with beaucoup mileage, for not a lot of money. I didn't know much about these cars but did some research after the (interesting) video.
  • Definitely a sports sedan, with a raucous V8, that goes and stops exceptionally well.
  • Looking at prices, and knowing what I do of Toyota and Lexus, I would not hesitate a second to START my search at 100K mile-plus examples that are ten years old, if that was my scene (been there/done that)
  • Looking at your numbers, examples from back then are in your ballpark with >90K miles. Consider them, if that's how you roll. I would bet money they are NOT the sort of sport sedan people neglect; quite the opposite. On quality alone, I'd probably discard an Audi S4 from consideration for one of these.

Edmunds says:

Pros

Tire-melting thrust, track-ready handling, subdued interior noise levels for this segment.

Cons

Exterior by J.C. Whitney, rock-hard suspension, no manual option.

Unpopular luxury cars.

Acura RLX
Cadillac ELR
KIA K900

All very nice cars and nothing depreciates better. I want to own the first two.

If you want cheap and reliable, buy a two year old Camry LE.

Camry is the way I'm leaning right now. I intend to keep the car for a long time, so parts availabiliy is a concern. Plus, I prefer simple, less complicated to repair. No turbos. The kind of car grandma likes to drive are the best candidates here. I wish I still had the Merc. Grand M. Huge trunk, super reliable, leather, power seat, cushy ride. I'm 6'4", so I need a big roomy car.

Then you don't want the best deal, you just want a cheap car that runs. There is a difference.
I like Mitsubishis for that purpose. The 4-cylinder ones are very reliable and they're cheap.

They're pretty much out of the "car" business, though. They have CUVs.
