The only way I can get a replacement lens is with the bulb etc and with installation it is over 1000 to fix
Would the duct tape be resistant to water?
Ha-ha.. duc tape... Furnace tape is much better, btw.
Buy M3 protective film for your lenses and DIY them. You apparently must have one of those fancy HID ones that cost several body parts to replace.
You can get M3 film in sheets and trim to fit, or pre-cut to suite your lens. Fun project. New skill to acquire.
I was told the tint is 5 mils (5/1000) inch thick. I am not trying to make them much darker maybe a very light smoked look. Will this also protect from water getting in?
Your headlights help you drive safely when it is dark. I could not imagine doing anything to them to make them perform worse.

The size of of a split? Exactly where could it be? Of tiny plenty of, eliminate the headlight in addition to spray clearcoat within the split in an attempt to close up oT upward. Might require some layers.
What's the deductible on your comprehensive insurance? Seems to me the thing to do is have a bird fly into it.
Haha. The deductible is 500. I was gonna go thru insurance but I didn't want to do fraud and say it was hit. If I put an accident claim in my premiums would go up over 80 per month since I have a good driver discount currently

If the cracks aren''t very wide, you can always try the type of clear and very thin glue used to repair very small cracks on windshields. Some cheap kits are available at NAPA and other automotive parts shops.

Premiums don't go up for comprehensive claims, just for collisions. The only thing they might do is require you to increase your deductible if you turn in comprehensive claims frequently. And that's a pretty big "might;" I turned in three deer hits in 18 months and they didn't say a word despite the fact that my comprehensive deductible was only $50.
That bing said, I should point out that my post was made in jest. Insurance fraud pisses me off.
