I just got a 2008 Impala. I was on the highway and the engine dropped from 60 mph to 20pmh,a light popped up saying reduced engine power, I was scared. I did some research online and it seems a lot of issues comes from Chevy's, and there is no recall on this issue. I'm stressing because it's a computer glitch from Gm on these types of cars. I don't have money to pay on a car I just Got. I'm still paying for this car.........any advice? Here's a link because a lot of people are saying the same thing
"wire connector that runs to the throttle motor and like magic the problem is gone. this is after i had it at the dealer twice for them to tell me nothing was wrong and that i would probably have to replace the PCM. basically one of the wires had a short which was probably the ground wire.
Consensus leans toward new throttle body but that hasn't produced consistent results for everyone."
Keep doing the research.
Did the check engine light come on? Have the codes read and look them up online.

WOW! I just read through a few pages of the link posted as I have a police Impala. Those post's are scary and GM should be ashamed of the "customer care" they have provided. NOT! these post's go over many years and no recall, where's the NHTSA when you need them?
Subject: Intermittent Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated, DTC P2138 with Reduced Engine Power (Repair Instrument Panel (IP) to Body Harness Connector)
Models:
2005-2011 GM Passenger Cars and Light Duty Trucks (Including Saturn)
2005-2009 HUMMER H2
2006-2010 HUMMER H3
2005-2009 Saab 9-7X
This condition may be caused by water intrusion into the instrument panel (IP) to body harness connector, which carries the APP sensor signals to the ECM/PCM. This water intrusion results in a voltage difference between APP Sensor 1 and APP Sensor 2 that exceeds a predetermined value for more than a calibrated period of time, setting P2138.
Note
Aftermarket equipment can generate DTC P2138 and/or other DTCs.
