Hahahaha, very funny. I'm a woman, and my first three cars were sticks. I actually preferred them because they're more fun to drive. I only bought an automatic after I married my husband. He's 6'4" with size 13 feet, and operating a clutch pedal was too awkward for him. His feet were so large, he'd hit the wrong pedal by mistake.

What a crock this guy is. I drive a manual but to say what he said is ignorance and/or trolling.

I'd say he's ignorant and a troll, not to mention a misogynist!

sounds like that soviet guy. either way he is a troll as well as ignorant.

and to the OP, these days i drive an automatic, however i started out on a stick shift when i first learned to drive in the mid 70s. and i have driven automatics and stick shift cars and trucks over the years, including a 5 ton water truck that had a crash box, and i shifted that without using the clutch. in fact i have had a few stick shift cars where the clutch went out, and drove those cars either to a repair shop, or to my home where i repaired the clutches. so until you can do that, drive a stick shift car without using the clutch AT ALL, oyu have NO room to talk at all.

I learned how to drive in stick shifted clunkers back in the early '60's. I have driven stick shift cars for half a million miles at least. My last few cars and my motorcycle are automatics.

During a recent trip to West Virginia and their excellent mountain roads I used my Subaru's automatic in "manual" mode. Most of the switchbacks required 2nd and some first gear. I liked having an auto box because it let me use left foot braking into the corners and smoothed the transition to power out of the apexes into the next corner about 50 yards away or closer.I find my Burgman 650 scooter easier to ride quickly in the twisties for pretty much the same reason.

When I can no longer ride a motorcycle I will get a two place sports car for traveling. It may or may not have an auto tranny.

As far as the insult is concerned I do not consider that what kind of transmission my car uses is any comment whatsoever on my "manliness". Same goes for other commentators on this forum.

Some psychologists say the gear shift is a phallic symbol. Too much shifting and you could go blind.
