So I'm going to be starting a new field job where I need to use my personal vehicle. I'm going to be doing ALOT of driving. No less than 130 miles a day. So, I need a vehicle at with least 30 MPG highway, I'll be doing a lot of highway driving. I also need a vehicle with some power as the morning drive will be very steep. I'm driving a 2005 Civic now and I know this car can't handle that steep climb 5 days a week.
I'm looking for under 20k and under 50k miles. Right now, I'm leaning towards a 2012-14 v6 Ford Mustang with 31 highway miles and 305 HP.
OP if you are looking for cars in that category you might as well check out the V6 Challenger , V6 Camaro RS and Hyundai Genesis Coupe or a 4-5 year old infinity G37 Coupe or (Nissian 370Z if you do not need a 4 seater)

I had a rental Challenger and hated it. It has massive blind spots. I had a 2008 GT Mustang but sold it years ago. Insurance wise, Infinity (luxury) brands always cost more but I know Infinity does hold a quality value so that does kinda even it out.
just a thought...with that much mileage and wear...you might be better served to buy a brand new kia or hyundai...10 year /100K mile warranty...you are about the beat the crap out car...$20k better spent...IMO...buy your mustang for your weekend ride.
also...no WAY you are going to get an average of 31 miles on a v6 mustang.
I know I sound like a big Audi trumpeter, but lets do it! Audi A4s from 2011 and 40k miles go for 18k-19k, and out of mine I get 34 mpg highway, and epa says I should be getting 30. You could get 2012-14 Ford Fusions, as well as Camrys, with 30k. The Audi has the most power, but the Fusion/Camry is more practical.

Depends on how you drive it, if you have a light foot, solid 30, if you drive normally, 25.

Why not? I had a 08 GT and got 25 MPG most of the time. I drove ALOT in traffic too. I'll be able to use cruise control alot on this drive. I can't afford getting a speeding ticket. Having a good driving record is key for my new job.
I don't get your logic with buying a new vehicle. The percent of depreciation with a new car and a used vehicle with the amount of miles I'll be putting is alot higher. I've never purchased a used vehicle before but theres really no way I'd think about buying a new one now. Not when I'm definitely going to put over 30...probably 40k miles in a year.

I think the Audi designs right now are beautiful but not overstated. They seem like they will age well. But I also am concerned about long term maintenance.

I've read Audi maintenance is pretty expensive.
Your mileage is 20% less than what the OP is looking for.
So what do you think that 700+ miles a week is going to do to the value of a mustang...or any vehicle for that matter? Are you saying that used cars no longer depreciate? I don't understand your logic.
My $.02...for $20k, why not buy something new with no miles and a great warranty?
