I lost the key and fob for my 2007 Buick Lucerne. I have a spare but want to replace at least the key just in case. Anyone have an inexpensive source for a re placement key?

I would imagine you could pick one up on ebay cheaper than the dealer, but the dealer would have to program it if required (PATS), with most cars you need both original keys if you want to program one yourself. Someone with more Buick knowledge can confirm or deny.

Check with some local locksmiths. Most of them have acquired the tools to cut and program the newer keys so it is not immediately a dealer only item. I have one by me that charged about $10 less for the Ford key, and can program it cheaper. Luckily I was buying a third key, so I had the other two keys and a Ford tech friend programmed it for free.

Good luck!

I just googled programming key 2007 Lucerne and it looks like it may only require one key to program a second one that has been cut by a locksmith, but I would do some more checking on a Buick enthusuiast website or similar to make sure.

These keys are getting expensive. I remember the old days of going to Ace Hardware and spending $3 to get a new key cut.

My Lexus has a physical key hidden within the fob that you can only use to open up the doors. And that has a unique code. I would imagine the fob is pretty expensive also.

Maybe, but $38 on ebay for a factory branded fob vs. $130 on that site is just gouging, not an expensive fob.

Yeah, I see that now.
For OP's Buick, looks like you can get it on Ebay for $15 compared to $40 at the site I posted above.

and cars could also easily be stolen with a shaved key or just a screwdriver.

As stated, I know that some locksmiths will have chipped keys which can get you into your car and drive, but for the FOB to unlock without the key, usually the dealerships will have to program it.
