As is the Toyota Camry. Oddly enough, Fords and Dodges are often built in Mexico or Canada. Go figure. but OP was asking about American-branded, mid-sized sedans. I don't understand why everyone keeps suggesting trucks, sports cars, foreign brands and stuff over his price range.

If I were dead set on American badged and around $25k, I'd probably get the Dart. Closest you'll get to mid-sized sedan and fairly nice inside and out. Had a rental Cruze once, didn't care for it. The Focus is nice but I'd rather have the hatch. If I remember right, the Dart also offers manual on just about every trim level (unlike the out-going Fusion, which only let you row your own on the base model). Though I think there have been some reliability issues with the turbo motors. Not sure if the latest ones have worked out the kinks yet.

Get a BMW 320i. Best entry level midsize sedan with a manual. It's slightly above budget, but ~$32K. You can get a 1 year old one for around $25K. Don't fuss around with a FWD.

OK, it's quiet sad...
The 2 really viable options I see:
-go Asian: Mazda 6 2015, starting at $21k. Much nicer than the older mazda 6.
-go European: BMW 320i

I always liked bad-ass American cars. I guess I just missed it in 2014.
The dodge dart looks like a malnourished version of something.

In 2015 in Europe they are still selling Ford Mondeo with manual, which is the same as the fusion. Its just that cars in Europe are much more expensive due to VAT/customs, and transporting it here would cost $2000, I would end up paying $30k for the base model with no extras.

No Chevy Malibu/Impala with stick?

I drive a 2008 VW Jetta with 5-speed manual. Its just it is small and outdated. So a new car would be nice without having to give up anything.

Lol. It is a global marketplace today. I just bought a new car a couple months ago and had planned to get a manual. I'd had 4 manuals, 3 of them Hondas. I was interested in the Honda Fit, and test-drove that (a 6-speed), but just couldn't wrap my head around a transmission made in Indonesia. I ended up getting a Toyota automatic.

Manuals used to be very popular. For obvious reasons, that's no longer the case.

Automatic... Something has to allow the driver to text while driving. And it's easier to start it up while you are drunk.

Lol, it was the texting I was referring to. You could pretty much name your price just to get them off the lot. We'll see fewer and fewer of them. Even most guys would rather be texting than shifting.

My first manual: Just graduated basic training. Went home. My parents had picked out a car for me. Drove me 25 miles to go pick it up (it was the first year the Ford Escort came out, I think. 1982) "btw, it's manual. See you at the house!"

Lucky for me I was paying attention when my driving instructor in 10th grade sat her chair in the middle of the room and demonstrated manual shift driving to us.

I just bought another stick shift..... they are out there if you look hard enough.

Just about every dealer I went to said the same thing:

"The sticks we had are sold".

There is still some demand for them but manufacturers want to make cars "one way"....as I was told over and over.

It's more profitable for them.

I just saw the news that Ford has dropped the manual for the 2015 model. Buying a used one would not really be an option because all the used Ford Fusion 2013-2014 cars within few hundred miles are automatic.
dodge models have seemed lacking stick shift in recent years too.

so, is there any 2015 model American mid-size-sedan Car (e.g. not a Toyota) that is offered with manual transmission?
I mean stick shift, not shiftable automatic?
The Mazda 6. I believe Mazda is owned by Ford these days, and you can get it in Sport and Touring trim levels with a six-speed manual transmission.

Ford owns less than a 3 percent stake in Mazda.
