My father had the Morris Oxford version of this car. Eventually I received it as a hand-me-down. The Austins were quite rare in the states, and the Morris version was extremely rare. The Morris had different grille, tail lights and interior. There was also an MG Magnette version with twin carburetters.
My dad's maroon 1938 Pontiac 8 Silver Streak sedan. He had a '37 Ford coupe when I born but I don't remember it. The only other car I remember riding in before I was five would be a '48 Nash sedan, owned by close friends of the family.
I had just turned three when Pearl Harbor occurred and after that gas and tires were rationed, so there wasn't much riding around in cars when I was 3-7 years old. We didn't trade the Pontiac for a post-war car until I was 12 (1951), when we got a '48 Dodge club coupe.
