Unfortunately, I no longer have a pickup truck, so anything I catch will have to go inside the car.
What's the best way to keep the inside of the car from picking up a fishy smell? I'm thinking that an insulated cooler might be the best way. Any fisherman here have any suggestions?

Yes, a cooler with a latch to keep it tightly closed. Even with a pickup truck I prefer to keep them in one, inside the cab in summer when it's hot in the back of the truck. Of course, if the car has a trunk, you can put it there.
I always thought a more serious problem was keeping the car from smelling like bait, which was often forgotten and left in the car. Especially catfish bait, a prepared product that was sold in glass jars and had the most foul odor on earth.
My dad bought a fishing car, so my mom wouldn't have to endure the smells in "her" car. But I never noticed them. And also so he wouldn't have to worry about the good family car sinking into the lake while ice fishing, which was a considerable hazard.
