This explains why whenever I go to Las Vegas the taxis always have their TPMS light on. I guess they just don't bother to replace them and let the light stay on. One guy had a hunk of black tape over something on the dash, probably that light.
Tire light on is not the end of the world. It just means that tire needs air. Since people are too lazy to check their tire pressure. We have to put these sensors.
Wow. I think I'll save the $200 and check my tire pressure once every few months. That seems to have worked fine for the past 15+ years
Problem is Porsche ECUs will trigger the Central Warning Light. Not only is this light annoying, your local emissions Nazi will have a field day with you.

Depends on state. Any lights on dashboard (CEL, etc) are only noted on the emissions report but not a factor in pass/fail in state of CO
"My Porsche dealer said my five year old TPMS sensors may be getting near end of battery life, and said I may want to consider replacing even though Porsche says expected life is 90 months. I said, "OK, put in new batteries". Nope, batteries are not removable?! What kind of design is that? I have to buy new sensors at $220 each!!! Tell me there is a cheaper way."
That's not exclusive to Porsche. Many makes are like that. 5-6 years and the batteries die.
There are aftermarket options.....
