My 2003 Civic has two accessory belts that needs replacement. A mechanic quoted me $200 including material and labor. This sounds steep to me. Any thoughts?

That's a little pricey. Your car has 2 drive belts: A/C & power steering. You're looking at 1 hr labor+parts, which should equal $120-160. Make sure the shop installs good quality belts or else they'll squeak. You can even purchase OE Honda belts and give them to the shop.

Looks like power steering pump and alternator will have to be loosened to take the belts off. Also, looks like wheel and fender cover removal is needed to get to them. Yeah, it's about an hour of labor with car on the lift. Gator belts are surely less expensive than dealership ones and last same if not longer. Buy belts at O'reilly and hand them to the mechanic, unless they do not accept parts from customer.
Ongoing hour rate is about $70-90. Plus parts. You should be around $ 120-140 into it.

Lot of mechanics don't like to install parts customers bring in. I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to do the job twice because the customer brought me crap parts.

I was quoted about $160 to replace those 2 belts on my 01 Accord, so that sounds about right.
