When I am working under the hood and it's windy outside I am afraid that the wind might blow the hood off the rod holding it up and come crashing down on my hands. It probably won't happen but for peace of mind do they make any thing you can put down on the car that would stop the hood from closing all the way in the event it falls?

I guess you could try and find a way to install some gas struts under there.

It wold take extremely strong winds to pull the hood off the rod and send it crashing down. Winds too strong for you to work in to begin with. I wouldn't worry about it. However, if you really are worried, perhaps using a strong bungee cord or two to hold the hood down with more force. Just hook it between the hood and the radiator support. That would help keep it from coming off the rod in the first place.

I know what you mean about the Hood and Rod on a Windy Day.

I hitched up my battery charger on my neighbors car one day and it was a little windy out. I had my concerns and sure enough when I went back she told me that the Hood blew down on the charger. It actually dented her Hood a little.

The bungee cord idea sounds good, just make sure it is strong enough/good enough to hold.

Thats similar to what I do. I hook it to the rod where it goes into a slot on the hood bracing, and stretch it over to the nearest hole in the on the underside of the hood. Been doing that even when its not windy, just to make sure it doesnt come out.

We always just used a broom handle when the hood wouldn't stay up on an old car we had.
