Yep.

Runner up, for what I've had anyhow, is a '92 Ford 3.0 Vulcan.

Even let the engine overheat once after blowing a heater hose on the road (the routing of hoses in that particular installation was always causing one of them to rub, wear, and fail).

Did that motor have an iron head as well?
The Vulcan V6 had iron heads.

What they lack in horsepower, they make up for in low-end torque. Compared to the Ford 'Cologne' 4.0L V6 from the same era (literally nicknamed "the Boat Anchor V6" by more than a few owners), the Jeep 4.0L was legendary!

By far the most reliable the chevy small block v8. Over 100 million of them were produced for over 50 years. Used in cars, trucks, boats, small planes etc..

Never had a single engine problem in any car I've owned though the longest I've kept one is just 200k.

Only power train problem I've had was the Ford transmission in a '88 Mazda 626.

One is more likely to find a 1994 Honda Accord still vs. a 1994 Caprice.

Default What engine was your most reliable?

Hands down, a Toyota 22RE (2.4L 4 cyl fuel injected) with over 200k miles and still running strong - never a repair. It's been running on synthetic oil since new and I think that's a big factor in its longevity and trouble free performance.

1. GM 4.3 V6
2. Mazda 1.8 liter
3. Mitsubishi 2.6 liter.

In no real order all of them were great engines.
