When you tell mechanic if they fix BMW, Audi, Mercedes they always tell customers to go the dealer. Why some mechanic are afraid fix those type of cars ?

They may also require specialized tools & diagnostic equipment/software that independent mechanics may not want to invest in.

Bingo.

Every mechanic will have a full set of SAE and metric tools, but unless you routinely work on European cars, you're not going to have a full set of Torx, and E-Torx bits and sockets, or the software needed to diagnose late model European cars.

So a person has an expensive car that may require special knowledge and special tools for proper maintenance.
The real question here is why would you NOT go to the dealer for scheduled maintenance and repairs in the first place?!?

Price. A local independent mechanic that specialize in euro cars, may be cheaper then the dealer.

I don't think "scared" is the right word, hesitant might be.

Knowing a couple mechanics it's the reasons already listed (specialty tools, proprietary software, etc.) plus, as one has said to me more than once, "They're a pain in the ass to work on". He was talking about a VW that day, which he was working on.

In the short run. But if they mess it up it could be a lot more expensive in the long run
