Hard to do better than that.
Mine were a 1989 Taurus, 2005 Expedition and 2013 CMAX Energi. Still have the Expedition. Sold the Taurus at 10 years and 150K, Expedition has 170K. CMAX was a lease and turned it in a year ago (200+ mpg when I turned it in though).

My 2013 Fusion has had four recalls so far, hell, I even had a recall for the wheels.

I consider recalls, although an admission of a defect, to not be in the same class as a poor mechanical quality reputation. In theory, the manufacturer is agreeing to fix the item across the board, so you don't have to worry that the issue will crop up in 5 years. Transmission failures, engine failures, excessive wear of wear components (breaks/tires/etc), early fluid leaks - those to me are the sign of a low quality vehicle.

I've surprised many people with muscle cars thinking their 300HP car is quicker than a 120HP Prius.

Sorry...just had to

I like the look of my 2013 Fusion and it is a good car for vacation travel. I have 32K miles on the car and it has been out of the garage less than 10 times, not counting the drives to the dealership or car wash. I took this picture last week.

This person gets it. I think buyers are getting older in general as car prices get more expensive and increasing student debts. I'm in my mid 30s and I moved from a family sedan to an suv. Critical reasons.

1. Easy ingress and egress
2. Better height for putting kids in and out of car seats
3. Hatch space
4. MPG has really improved in the latest SUVs.

Of course, these are for family reasons. I'd still prefer to drive a brz or s2000 if i'm alone.
