Just curious, I got a letter as many did about the recall on the airbags in June of 2016 but I have not been able to find out anything about a time frame for repairs.
It would appear that this devalues the cars/trucks on the list for trade in and sales too. As far as I am concerned a dealer should not be able to sell a used vehicle on the list but they do.
It appears that they hope the cars/trucks will get older and the problem will just go away???
I guess I should be glad that 2 of the 3 cars I own are not affected by the recall.

Has anyone had notice to come in for repairs yet, or are they just leaving us in limbo?

As soon as I got a letter, I called a dealer and asked to make an appointment to get it fixed. My letter told me to do that though. I think they are staggering cars by age.

I ended up having to wait until they called me to bring it in. What really sucked was the first time I brough my car in, it sat there all weekend because they didn't bother to tell me they didn't have the part. So I had to come back a month later. So I would suggest double checking that they have the replacement bag before leaving a car.

Wow, they take your car in with no parts. Talk about incompetence.
My letter says I will be contacted when parts are available.
I guess that translates to "don't call us, we will call you"

I've heard alot of different things.. Some people have been given a loaner car until parts are available. Someone who had a Honda Fit I know this happened to.. that car was probably under 3 years old, so still under the manufacturer's warranty.. Perhaps that had something to do with it.. But she was in that loaner car for several months. Maybe it was age.. Maybe it was Honda.. Maybe she was a total b***h and the dealership gave her a loaner to shut her up.. All are possible with her..

I've heard of people who were told not to drive it but got nothing.

I've heard tell of people getting a rental car that was paid for until parts were available.

Again.. No idea on what the correlation between all this is. If it's certain manufacturers, certain dealers, certain ages of vehicles..

Be aware that if you're driving a vehicle with a Takata airbag, you are driving with a safety device that may actually kill you in the event of a collision.

Yep out of 50 million airbags, there has been 11 deaths for total percentage of .00000022%. You are in a coffin on wheels.

Number is way off, you'd have to use the number of these airbags that have been deployed to get the correct answer.

My dealer cannot sell to public a vehicle they take in as a trade that has this recall pending. Though they will have crappy used car places buy them occasionally.

Sure, that makes sense. The dealership dumps the responsibility by selling to a non dealership for resale.
Mine is a '08 Yukon, low miles. It's my wife's truck and while the chances are low for a problem I still worry about it.

My sister has a Mazda subject to the recall. Brought it in and they didn't have the replacement parts. Dealer did not want her to drive away with an active recall so they gave her a Cadillac as a loaner and she's had that for 2 months now waiting on the part.

Yeah, they called me and told me to bring it in and then it sat there.

Oh well, it's fixed now.

Good luck with yours!
