I'm a huge fan of the car auction shows (Barrett-Jackson, Mecum) and on occasion I see cars roll across the auction block that I totally fall in love with at first sight. I'll see a particular car and the current high bid is, say, $39,000, and I catch myself yelling at my TV screen: "40!" "40,000!!" never mind that I couldn't afford to buy as much as one wheel of the car!

Anyone else watch? And armchair bid?

i prefer the Mecum auctions although they have too many cars with reserves .. i like the fact that i could actually afford some of the cars they sell ..

The small bar where we go camping in a tiny secluded way northern MN town had one of the auctions running on the tv's. All the locals were glued to the tv watching it. Made zero sense to me. Guess being closer to Canada then twin cities in tiny towns, they don't see old nice cars if ever?

I'm old enough to see these cars go across the block to kick myself for not getting a storage building and buying them for $1200 (or less) when I could have.

P.S. Bought a 1967 GTO convertible 6/79 for $1100. Could have bought a somewhat rough (but not all that bad) 440 1970 Charger for $200 one day. Could have drove it home. Nobody wanted them in the late 70's.
