Location will be California, probably pickup SFO and return LAX.

Luggage will be like one small cabin trolley per person, plus handbags/shopping bags or smaller items.

Also, a Transit has decent ride comfort, but AVOID the ford E350 which will beat you to death on the road.
(fyi, the Chevy Express is actually built on a Suburban frame/powertrain, which is why they ride nice)

I'd goto https://www.carrentals.com/ and check the Vans & Trucks option... to start (see who offers this type). Then check those co's for specials, etc.

Yes, usually they say something like "Chevrolet Express or similar equipment" which means it could be everything from E350 to Transit or Nissan. I wonder if there are certain preferences among the rental companies for one or the other, like "Hertz uses 99% E350 in that category while Avis prefers Chevy".

I dunno; it may even be regional; maybe moot anyway as you're gonna get whatever they have sitting in the lot ready to go when you show up to get the keys (EVEN with a reservation)...
