The final two months of the year. I heard its also good idea to go on less busy days & not Fridays or weekends.
Correct, I worked at a GM dealer out in California a few years ago.............
For my dealer, It was last 2 weeks of Dec were the BUSIEST of the entire year !! Dealer wanted close out year in black not red and for last minute clowns who want a same year tax write off
I heard the last few months (Oct. - Dec.) before the New Year because that year's models will be liquidated in order to bring the new year's models in.
There are 4cyl 2017 Impalas in my area marked down to $16k that sticker for 31k.
LOL Not surprised at my dealer in California(Camry/Altima "Country") we RARELY sold a Impala !!! And I do remember we had to discount our remaining 2015 Impala's anywhere from $5-15K off !!!
In fact Impala sales were SO BAD at my dealer that our inventory guy said he would NOT order any for 2016 MY unless someone placed an order with a $500 deposit !!
Any Impala that wasn't sold by end of year, I remember was sent to some mega car dealer in Houston !! lol
It's a shame GM might kill it, I drove many of the older gen '06-13 versions and the new version and LOVED them !!
If you find a good deal jump on it - don't pass it up due to some perception like that. For the most part, all of that is a myth.
Talk to any manufacturer and they will roll their eyes at all these interesting "sales" that Dealers and Dealer Associations have. "Truck Month," "Year End Clearance," "Presidents Day", "Put a Bow on your Car,"...whatever. All a bunch of marketing BS.
I don't say this as a consumer, I say this as someone who's worked in the industry my entire life.
I agree! I found a good deal in the summer. It just really depends! $10k off a 2017 Impala sounds pretty good to me!
I thought I read somewhere that the Japanese fiscal year ended in March. Japanese auto makers want to end their year in the black so that was a good time to buy. Correct me if I’m wrong.
You will hear different accounts, but if you listen to this episode of This American Life, based on a month embedded in a Jeep dealership, it's hard to discount the idea that the end of the month is a good time to buy.

Even that 4cyl had some pep in it
LOL when this thread was started I remember thinking how popular the model seemed to be in Houston as opposed to other places I've lived...thought it might have been my imagination but I guess not!

You see a ton of them on the road. They are very popular as a government/fleet vehicle. I know someone who gets a new Impala (company vehicle) every two years, puts 100K miles on it, and then gets another.
