I much prefer cloth. I almost always wear shorts in the summer (other than to work), and my bare legs will stick to leather. In the winter, I find leather to be much colder than cloth.
I will concede that leather is easier to clean. But that's its only advantage, IMO.
Cloth is comfy year round, and holds up just as well aside from the staining. It doesn't take long for that driver side leather seat to start cracking.
A tan or other light colored leather makes a huge difference in the summer vs a dark black or gray. They stay much cooler, even in direct sunlight. I will never own a dark leather interior. In the winter, though, you'd better have seat heaters.

It is funny that as you are becoming more affluent you aspire to have 'leather' seats in your car. Woo, woo! I Have arrived.
And then you get a chance to ride in a vehicle which has fabric seats once again and you realize that looks aside (and in many cases that it is not really a factor) cloth is way more comfortable than leather.
Not freezing cold in the summer. Not scorching hot in the summer. No sliding around; the cloth keeps you anchored. No soaking with sweat from a seat which doesn't breath. Way more comfortable sitting on cloth than sitting on a hard leather surface.
All in all, just no comparison. Cloth is much better.
But car companies still stick a nauga(hide) or some old goat or cow hide in there and they can add a few hundred to the price. Chances are the cow costs them less than the fabric. wouldn't that be poetic justice: buyer thinks he is going for stature; car company is making more money off him!
I have one of each. Our Expedition has black leather seats (heated and cooled). The leather lasts longer with proper care and is easier to clean.
I find that cloth seats create a lot of static electricity in the winter to the point that it's uncomfortable to me to slide out of the seat and grab the doorframe. Given the option I try to stick with leather. I've noticed no difference in comfort between either one, so I don't base my preference on comfort.
Leather but last two cars have had cloth. I'd rather have cloth than cheap leather/vinyl. Accord, for example, had so much plastic on top of the leather it was basically like sitting on your grandmother's coach with that clear plastic protective cover that old people love. Great way to get swamp back.
Leather.....or anything close to leather. Cloth gets so hard to keep clean...although grey colored cloth is better than black for hiding lint, etc.
