Those aren't cup holders, they're beer holders.

How those magnets work with phones in a protective case? I have Otter box which is quite robust.

You just bought the wrong sedan. I have a 2019 G80 3.3T Sport and it has an ideal place for my Samsung S8. It also charges it wirelessly while its placed there. (Or, I have the option to connect it via the usb port to use Android Auto.)

OK, this is what I am looking at inside my ES 350. Show me one of those 5000 places.

I do have one of those. First, you have to stick a plate to your phone, which I didn't like but did anyway. Then I find out that the clip is too short for my vent without enough tenstion to hold the phone up.

I hope they never make it commonplace or convenient to access your phone in your car.

May be the people in the caravan aren't fretting over this but then again I am not in the caravan.

Left side compartment under the headlights switch? Center dash where the "LEXUS" logo is on the screen?

I do agree with you, OP - it does seem like cars and other vehicle manufacturers would come up with a convenient place for people to put their cell phones.
Click on Amazon link
Go to "Reviews" look at first 5 or 10

It's not good, man.
