I do know that none of these are big sellers anyway. I'm not a car person. But even so it's interesting to me -- especially with all the talk of how some car companies are moving away from selling some kinds of vehicles.
I will say that as an Acura RSX owner, who to this day hates the fact that Acura killed off the RSX, I'm not upset at all that Acura only sold 170 NSXs. But like all the other cars that are high price point cars it wasn't going to sell but so many of them anyway.
And the article gives various reasons for lower sales, including in some cases buyers waiting for a newer version they know is coming next year.

How can a car company afford to make a car it only sells 200-400 of?
I wish the Lincoln Continental (one of the cars on this list) would come back with the bench seat because then it would offer something unique that just about no car does anymore.
This used to be a big, roomy car in the interior, but nowadays it's not much better than many compact/mid sized cars with that confining console smacked right between the front seats.
How many Lamborghinis, Ferraris, McLarens, Bugattis, Aston Martins, Rolls, Royces etc have been sold in the same period of time?
Those are niche vehicles that few people have the means to buy, so they are never going to sell in big numbers. They aren't even manufactured in big numbers. For instance, Bugatti only manufactures about 40 vehicles in a given year. It isn't news to see low sales figures on cars like that. On mass production vehicles it is a much bigger deal.
The OP made a great point in that a new model on the way can put a lot of downward pressure on sales of the current model. If you like the model that is about to be replaced, this can be great news, because you can often cut a much better deal on a slow selling model. If you aren't necessarily in love with it, the outgoing model often immediately looks dated when the new one comes out.
has the same problem as Harley Davidson, a dying market....
How true as the baby booomers were the biggest customer base for HD now as we get older we no longer want a motorcycle anymore we want a large vehicle that’s easy to get in and out of. Since the mercury grand marquis and the big Lincoln’s and Cadillacs and big imperial or New Yorkers are no longer available they are going for the big Buick SUVs and CUV’s.
