In recent life of my Subaru Foresters untimely demise I have found a 97 Subaru Legacy Outback. In my last post I had mentioned finding a Subaru and making it into a toy of sorts, yet still having it as my daily driver
The tires are on 97 are okay and the ones are my 00 Forester still have really good tread on them.

The tires on the 00 are as follows.
215/60 16s The ones on the 97 is as follows. 185/70 14. Both are five lug, how would i tell if the 14s would fit? Just put them on and hope They don’t rub? Is there any other way to tell other then putting them on?

Any other options?

Even if they did fir, the speedo and odo would be way off because of the big difference in tire circumference.

Lug pattern is the same, but you what you have to check is if the 14" wheel will fit over the caliper. Only way to know for sure is to try and fit them. Like the poster above me said, speedo and odo will be off, but that isnt a problem if you use a gps(either app or stand alone) that displays your speed. With a car that old mileage isn't recorded any more, so that's not a problem either.

Yeah that I’m aware but thanks for the reminder.

Tire places like Tireman or Belle or Discount Tire can easily pull up a chart that will tell you what will fit and what won't.

Not a tire question. A wheel question.

Just sayin'.

To me that would be a null factor. How hard can it be to make the mental adjustment?

The differentials on Subaru's AWD system are pretty sensitive to uneven tire sizes, but I'm not sure if that would be a factor if all 4 tires are the same size. That one's over my head. It would be nice to hear from an expert on that one. We drive Subarus too, and I always like to learn new things about them.

7.5% to be exact - the 14" would rotate 834 vs 771 times per mile:
