3 years ago I sold my 2003 F-250 Extended Cab 8' bed with 58000 miles on it for $11,000. The truck was in perfect condition and booked for about $8500. The buyer was willing to pay a premium price for the condition and low mileage.
They're out there. You just have to keep looking and be prepared to jump on it when you find one.

But, you are also in the desert. In PA, a truck this old, say 10 years, is going to be a rusty mess.
you should be able to find 12th gen F150's from 2009-2011 with the leftover 4.6L and 5.4L triton V-8's by that time they worked most of the bugs out of them.
Plus due to people hearing all the horror stories about the early triton V-8s many issues they tend to sell for lower the price.
On the other hand OP you could easily find mid-late 2000's model lower mileage well taken care of Ford Rangers in that price range they are pretty stout trucks and still many around still working hard on construction sites as well as commercial fleet vehicles and driven hard off-road to this day.

They never worked the bugs out of the 5.4, it had cam phaser issues until the last year. My coworker just got rid of his 2010 because it started knocking at only 120k miles.
I have a ten year old truck with about 178,000 miles. It is not terribly different than a brand new truck.
It has no rust. Not a speck on the body. The nerf bar fasteners rusted out and i had to put new nerf bars on it.
The engine transmission and 4x4 system all work fine.
It hauls everything I need it to haul.
It tows what I need it to tow.
It is very comfortable for 4 people and can carry 6 in a pinch if two of them are not large.
AC and heat work fine.
It goes fast and stops just fine.
I do not see how it is "junker" There are some annoying luxury items that do not work or do not work well, but nothing significant. If they were a problem, I would fix them.
Biggest issue right now is it needs new struts and an alignment. A new Truck needs that eventually too. Just part of maintenance.
OTOH I would not sell it for $10K. Maybe at $15K I might get interested, but probably not. I like it. A new one costs abut $70K or 80K. I would just as soon keep it, unless I got some phenomenal offer - which will not happen. .

Right now the current problem with new 5.4 motors is excessive oil consumption. Lots of videos about it on YouTube. Ford has a program for doing oil consumption testing. This is on 2018 and 2019 F-150s. You'd think the 5.4 would be bulletproof by now.

A quick check on my local Craigslist has about 15 trucks under $10k to pick from on the first page alone. All posted today. Dig back a few pages and I'm sure you could find a deal and drive it home tonight.
