SO we recently bought a brand new car from a dealer here in Dallas..on October 1st. A couple of issues....
We bought after market leather interior from the dealer and we haven't taken possession of the car but we discovered the following on October 10th as we were inspecting the car when it came back:
A moon-roof we did not request was on our new car. Dealer said it was a $2000 dollar mistake by the contractor doing the leather interior (apparently they had two orders for same model car for leather interior but other car had moon-roof) and we basically got a free moon-roof....
My wife hates it....I hate it....
whats our course of action...
It's a brand new car it had 1000 miles but then when we picked it up there was like 1200 miles on it already....and the fact that the stitching covered up the child safety restraint latches in the back seats...and then the front passenger side airbag sensor won't turn on because contractor forgot to put something back...
my main issue is the moon-roof...can i get a different car or do they need-to compensate me for the "damage"...
We still haven't take possession of the car due to the restitching of the leather and the airbag issue which the dealer is fixing but basically, the dealer put in a moon roof we didn't order.....whats our recourse?
I'm generally not a fan of this kind of aftermarket stuff on a brand new car... What's the warranty on that aftermarket leather? Factory would be covered under the bumper-to-bumper. It may seem trivial, but imagine if it starts coming apart in a few years. I had some minor interior issues with my Toyota that were handled by the dealer because it was still under the factory warranty.
Furthermore, the last thing I'd want in a brand new car is an aftermarket moonroof . Unless something has drastically changed in recent years, aftermarket ones generally tend to be problematic - especially with age.

I can't believe they are messing with the air bag circuitry. That sounds like a federal violation to me, but hey, who am I to judge?
The moon roof hole cannot be filled especially since all the mechanicals involved. If you really hate it, reject the car and try again.
Otherwise the moon roof should be free and warranted for life.

Reason: free is good
I'd reject it and have them start over. An aftermarket moonroof is much more likely to leak than a factory installed one.
Is this a model where leather is not an option? If I wanted leather, I'd find a car that came with it. You've already experienced problems with it, and this is only what you can see. It sounds like a really bad way to get the interior you want.

They're not messing with the airbag circuitry. They would have removed the seats to refinish them in leather. Sounds like they just forgot to plug in the passenger weight sensor that is under the seat. When it senses that there is a passenger, the front airbag is on. When it doesn't sense a passenger, that front airbag stays off, so if you're in a front end collision with no passenger, you only have to replace one airbag, not two.
Since this vehicle has been modified from factory original it is no longer legal to sell since it was modified BEFORE delivery. You may encounter significant trouble if your state has yearly safety inspections.
OP run don't walk away from this problem vehicle, it is only the beginning., you'll more than likely be facing continuous problems as long as you own the vehicle.
Also aftermarket moon roofs are notorious for leaking.
