My max budget is around 50k. I'm thinking between the following options:

Mercedes C class 2017 (~70,000km)
New Toyota Camry Ascent 2021/2022
Audi A5 2017 (~70,000km)
BMW 320i M-sport 2017 (~70,000km)

I like Merc C class however the new 2022 model has been fully redesigned and I'm worried that my C class 2017 will look outdated very soon. Could you please vote in the poll?

Your comments would be also very much appreciated.

Thanks

None of the above.

I expect to keep my convertible indefinitely. It is 10 years old and has 36000 miles on it.

I would probably take the BMW.

If it's a 5yo premium German car versus a new Toyota, I say get the new Toyota. Yes, it will be less impressive, but it will also be less trouble. And, you'll get to enjoy the car when new, as the first owner.

Have to vote BMW, I love the M series. And since I'm married to a BMW mechanic, upkeep would be no problem.

If that weren't the case and the cost of maintenance was an issue, I'd have to seriously consider going for the Toyota just to get the warranty.

If you do get one of the European used cars, look for a good local independent repair shop. Dealerships will rob you blind.

Common sense - Toyota

Worried about what shallow people think, and love to waste money - any of the other ones on your list.

What country are you in?

I'd go with the Camry. Too many jokes about keeping a German car for the three year lease then dumping it because that's when the trouble starts.

I'd never heard of an Ascent. Canada? Australia? Where?

So I read about it, it sounds like a solid car. Brand new engine. Hybrid. Good dynamics.

I personally don't care what anyone thinks about what I drive. So the Camry is a no brainer to me.

5 year old German car vs new Toyota? Well, let’s see. Oh never mind, you know the answer, Toyota!

The Toyota, hands down. They are fantastic cars and super reliable. The German cars are unreliable and super expensive to repair.
