Worst of my cars was my first, 1978 Camaro with 250 cubic inch inline 6. Besides the weak engine and horrible suspension there was the rotted out carpet, cracked vinyl seats, headliner in shreds, and one of the 5 cylinders didn't work. Cost of fixing the engine was the value of the car itself. My major problem with the car was every window leaked rainwater into the car and trunk. Sold it to a guy who wanted to get into track racing and he just wanted a Camaro body to go with his 350 small block V8.
The second car was my second car, 1984 Buick Skyhawk. The car's body and interior was in great shape. The engine never broke down on me except when the thermostat regulator got stuck and nearly overheated the engine. The problem with the car was it's clutch. The thing was a 4 speed manual, which I enjoyed on rides in the country. But the clutch burned up in no time at all. By brother-in-law bought it off me swearing the clutch burned up because I didn't know how to drive a stick. The clutch burned out twice on him before he admitted it was the transmission's fault.
First year with Opel made v6 engine which required timing belt changes EVERY 30,000 miles!
That thing had pages and pages of things under warranty repairs. Leaks. Oil pump going. Reprogramming of the electric ragtop. Clutch cable breaking at 45k leaving me stranded on a Sunday night.
You know its bad when the Service Manager at the Saab dealership encouraged me to dump the car. I did at 60k miles. I never looked back.
Air ride was a POS. Wake up every now and then and the car would be sitting on the ground. Had to get a jack and a level and jack it on each end til it was level and then it would auto level.
Some days it would not even remotely try to turn over when you switched on the key. Nothing. Sometimes it would fire right up. They could never fix that either.
Every one of them I have ever seen of that model etc has the front fenders almost scrubbing the tires and the rear end jacked up like a 70's hot rod. And then I know they have had to do the manual jacking etc too.
I bought it new.
In two years the air ride was worked on 11 times by the dealer.
I finally threatened lawsuit and they worked out a trade for me for a Crown Vic which was the best car I ever owned. I put 220,000 miles on it and then handed it over to my sons. Four sons drove it another 5 years. Doing burnouts etc. The odometer stopped around 300,000 and they drove it two more years after that before the transmission went out.
I've only owned 2 cars in my 17 years of driving, but my first car, a '93 Cavalier, was a steaming pile of dog poo after about 50,000 miles. That car left me stranded on the shoulder of the highway more times than I care to remember.
The worst LOOKING car I ever drove was an old beater my dad bought for my sister and I to drive in HS, which we affectionately nicknamed "The Weeniemobile". I believe it was an '83 Oldsmobile Firenza. Fire engine red with red wheels and a white vinyl top. Apparently the previous owner had an affinity for vanilla air fresheners, because the car had a permanent sickening vanilla scent that still makes me cringe to this day. This purchase was a brilliant strategy by my old man, because the looks and smell of the car kept our driving to a minimum. The car ran great though.
1961 Mercury Comet Convertible. That darn thing couldn't pull its self out of a car wash. It broke every day and made some of the darnedest noises you would ever hear.
The final straw was when the left front wheel and drum broke loose from the car. Once I got it stopped I left the key in the ignition, and a note on the windshield to whom it may concern, its yours.and walked on home
