Okay, folks...you ready for Toyota's AMAZING solution to this problem? READY......?
This is not a joke. They even bothered to send dealerships a full 5-page recall notice on how to properly fit the 'semi-permanent' floor mat anchor, aka the zip tie. Why not just have customers come in and slap them across the face, open palm? That would be cheaper and would get the message across that they don't care even more clearly.
I still can't believe this...it looks like something GM would have done in 1974. Toyota is dead to me.

I wasn't saying this was going to be their undoing. I was simply saying I won't consider their cars in the future if this is how they handle a serious safety problem that has already claimed numerous innocent lives.
I spent some time away from this board because I felt I was being personally attacked. I'm back and now I remember why I left...

Just imagine the media firestorm that would have erupted had GM, Ford, or Chrysler done something like this....unreal.

That part about the face-slapping almost made me fall off my chair.
Toyota's "solution", however, brings bile to my throat.

You have that right!!! But because it's the media's stock prices in their 401ks that would take a hit, I haven't seen it on the evening news! But I did hear about Fords recall on windstar van, for 4 days straight.
Hey nbc, cBS, abc, cnn, fox, msnbc, what about this recall the feds forced toyota to do????????????
Is this a temporary fix? If so, that's alright with me.
The last recall I personally had was the cruise control switch on my Ford truck. They didn't have the new switches so the dealer just disconnected my cruise control for about a year...until the new switches became available.
It's no worse than that...if this is a temporary fix...

Nope...as far as I can figure, this is their permanent fix for 3.4 million vehicles and all new cars delivered after this point. They might be redesigning floor mats but I haven't heard a peep about it.
