I'll take the 352 over the 350 or the 351s. The 352 with a set of big block heads seemed like the perfect combination of great power AND great gas mileage. The 318 deserves an honorable mention too. It was a great engine.
For the choice between a 350 and 351, I'd have to go with the 351. I had two different 351Cs, and both of them were great engines that outlasted the car around them. Every 350 I've owned has caused me a LOT more problems than I ever had with the 351s.
350s are probably a shade more reliable, and are definitely time-proven and the weapon of choice for most serious drag racers, even going so far as to shove them in Ford chassis. But, I choose the 351 for one goofy reason... it sounds better. lolol

I was never sure if the 352 was a big block engine or a small block engine, why did they stop the production on the 352's? I never knew how great they were on gas, I've always liked the 318's and I liked how powerful, durable and economical the 318's were.
I'm sorry to hear about your experiences with the 350's you've owned.
Big and small block are GM terms and for Ford it's engine family or series. The 352 Ford belongs to the same FE engine family as the 332,360,390,406,410,427, and 428.
I have an 87 Mustang GT it is chevy powered. I built a healthy 385 stroker for half of what it would cost me to build a 347 to make the same power. On top of that my 385 does not eat oil. The pistons you have to use on the 347 SBF the oil control rings intersect the pin boss.
Why didn't you build a 351W? Your sbc will not last as long as the Ford combo. Half as much for the sbc? You must have already had the chevy stuff laying around. Starting from nothing, it's cheaper to build a Winsor Ford than a sbc. Plus look at how much you spent for the conversion to the sbc.
While there have been many "good" engines none can aspire to the title of "great" engine that the small block chevy engine has owned since day one.
The design of the small block chevy engine was , and still is, genius incarnate.
Actuly, it was and still is an over rated pos. I'll take any other brand or division 350, 340, 360, 351 (both Winsor and Cleveland) and spank that sbc 350 everytime. Of course the car magazines are trying thier best to claim the over rated LS series engine are the best ever. I've built many of all of them, and nothing is more over rated than a sbc 350.

Exactly why I call the sbc 350 the most over rated engine ever.

LOL if any of this were actually true but it isn't. There's nothing over rated about the sbc, it's a tried and true engine that obviously is still a winner across the automotive field (albeit have taken the backseat to the LS family of engines) or otherwise people wouldn't still be running them. And not only do you dis the sbc but also the LSX series engines which incorporates technology that surpasses pretty much any V8 engine built in the last 40 years. Wow.
P.S. I've owned quite a few sbc's. I've ran them hard, overheated them, you name it, I've done it, and I've yet to have one fail on me.
