Don't worry about everyone else blowin your doors off. My first truck was an 1985 Toyota pickup that I built up into an off-road machine. Had the 22R, 5.71 gears and 38' Boggers. I was lucky to hit 45 mph going downhill while rocking back and forth, lol.

I think that you can get a vehicle report from eBay, for around $100, IIRC, which would work if you're serious about the vehicle and can coordinate with the seller. Logistically, it might not work with a short time to go on an auction to get the mechanic and vehicle in the same place at the same time, but if you have the time, I'd do that if I were expecting to fly in-drive home.

Ebay now does it for free on every car. If you look on the ad it is in there, and it is clean.

Cool. I didn't know that they had started that. I glanced at the ad, but didn't pay attention to the details.

ETA: I see that it is a clean vehicle, so that is definitely in its favor, since the score is close to the high end of the range. A cursory look shows some scores at the lower end of the range for a similar vehicle on eBay and they are definitely rough. The one you're considering does look good from the photographs.

Purchase a large photo of that car, frame it and hang it.

No maintenance, no tickets, no jail, and no trouble while saving many $$$.

Buttttttttt if you do eventually get one, may the force be with you.

If you really like that car, try to find it in a little bit higher price and UNMODIFIED. You do not know why it he is selling the car, and what can be wrong in nearest future because of that modifications.

Try looking on the copart.com auction. Look for a car with a light damage (e.g. one that needs a new fender and a bumper). The best case is to buy Non Turbo version and do the modification on the single turbo. You will get muuuch less problems and even lower price at the end.

I adore that car too and I was going to buy it in Tbilisi, Georgia. So at the end, my friend brought it (I brought 1968 Datsun 2000 Roadster) and when we started cleaning up the engine and looking for the problems, we got to the point that most of the engine was ruined even though the car was performing not bad.
On a car that old, you still have to buy new Turbochargers, make a close look at manifolds, change brake calipers, look for rust and other body problems etc.
Try to find a good car with naturally aspirated engine, it would be cheaper and condition would be better to.

(just my opinion )

Thank you, but just so everyone knows this is a single turbo, not twin turbo. The twin turbo did not come out until 1993.

1987-1992 have what is called a 7m-gte which is the single turbo.

1993-1998 have the 2jz-GTE which is the twin turbo. However, a lot of people like to modify them into a single turbo.
