choice of a truck too limited~ all of those are toys! been running a fleet of pickups in my business for years~ they 1/2 ton pickups listed are all too light duty to be of any value to anyone! List should include 3/4 ton or 1 ton vehicles ~ and Chevy is on top~dodge with allison second~ ford third~ others are way down the also named junk! incapable of actual work

A 1970's Chevy 1/2 ton from the desert southwest. Give it a tune up and drive it until it dies.

I would never pay the price of a new truck or auto.

ford F150 with the new 5.0 Coyote motor or chevy 1500 with a 6.2 vortec V-8 if it were diesels I would take a look at a cummins dodge with a 6-speed manual but the cummins only is in 3/4 ton models and I would stay away from dodge's automatics.

Oddly enough I really like the new Rams... awesome truck and great looking IMO. The Ram line of trucks has come a long way.

The ultra light duty Honda Ridgeline should not even be on that list. Was that intended as a joke?

F-350, with a cummins!

I have a 2000 Dodge ram 2500, diesel. I love the cummins motors but hate the rest of the truck excluding dana diffs. I really do like the look and interior of the new super duties.

edit: missed the poll.. Those arent full size pickups! But my pick would be the Tundra, great looking truck and enjoyable to drive. I'm not sure about the interior though.

Out of the choices, I would go with the Ford F-150. Personally I am looking for a crew-cab F-350 dually, diesel right now.

i haven't checked out the new models enough to REALLY know, but i've always been a Ford or GM guy when it comes to trucks.

that being said, i would only buy used. i couldn't imagine putting a $30K+ vehicle through what i use a truck for! at least i don't feel as bad when i dent or scratch the $5-$10K truck.

Mike

i clicked the chevy because I am more familar with chevy than others, but I am not interested in 1/2 ton anything...

What ever I want, isn't made, or isn't made the way I want it, and that is snow plow tuff, and doge has weak ft ends and weak auto trannys.

Not impressed much by chevy offerings either, and never did Fords..

I want space to lay flat as many sheets of ply wood as I would wish, and not have to set these in on some angle like you do with toy trucks.

I want power and more than diesel, but I want better mpg's than gas.

I want good seats that don't kill my back in 8 hours or less, but I don't want all the gooyey junk on the dash either.

A speedo, maybe 2 trip meters, real gauges that read real things like amps, volts, oil psi, water temp, and no silly tire psi devices.. I can tell when I need air in my tire...

I don't want or need an aircraft looking consoul, I want basics and a work truck and not a silly SUV death tank from the future look.

I wish Toyota would bring back the land cruiser, make it a powerfull diesel with a stick shift tranny since no one can build any auto tranny worth 2 cents any more, rate it at 3/4 ton and call it good to go... Basics. One with a real frame that is around long after the body is gone.. maybe one with points and condenser ignition since they are having such a bad time making ECU's.

Like Greg I am more aimed at hunting old trucks in the desert since the new ones are just about junk on the show room floor these days.

My old 83 chevy 4x4 K-10 has a better chrome ft bumper than and late model dodge ever did. it has the original relay rods and links too, and it has plowed every single winter since 87 when i bought it. It is twice the truck anything made today is, saddle bags gas tanks and all. I wish it were 3/4 ton.

And all these new trucks cost what a house should cost! That don't help.
